QBE AcceliCITY Resilience Challenge winner named

A company that uses advanced mapping technology to help coastal communities see environmental change – and act – before it becomes catastrophic, has been named as the QBE AcceliCITY Resilience Challenge winner for 2025.

RCOAST was chosen from more than 820 startups across 71 countries through a six-month vetting process in the global accelerator, held by non-profit Leading Cities and the QBE Foundation. The winner was awarded $100,000 in non-equity funding to pilot its solution through Leading Cities’ AcceliGOV programme, where communities around the world apply for no-cost project deployments.

Inclusive and ethical innovation

The challenge connects entrepreneurs with governments to help turn bold ideas into impactful community initiatives that mobilise a multi-dimensional ecosystem aimed at fostering inclusive and ethical innovation.

The award underscores what QBE AcceliCITY has come to represent over the past six years: a growing worldwide movement to make resilience measurable, scalable, and achievable across diverse communities.

“AcceliCITY was built on the belief that lasting impact happens when we act together,” said Michael Lake, president and CEO of Leading Cities. “By bringing innovators, insurers, and city leaders into one ecosystem, we turn shared challenges into shared progress. RCOAST shows what’s possible when preparation and partnership go hand in hand – when we stop working in silos and start building resilience as one community.”
