Tallinn to undertake dynamic traffic management viability study

The Tallinn Transport Board has announced a public procurement for the preliminary study of a dynamic smart traffic management project.

This is the first stage of the project which will lay the foundation for the eventual implementation of adaptive traffic light systems in the Estonian capital.

Traffic management systems

The preliminary study will seek to assess the current state of Tallinn’s traffic management systems and define the target situation. The board reports that a market and technology overview will then be prepared, and solutions used in other European Union countries will be analysed, and a test area will be selected with justifications.

The relevant legal framework will also be discussed, an innovation procurement strategy will be developed, and opportunities for later expansion of the solution will be assessed.
